"Our purpose is to provide information concerning our services to you as denturist
in our profession of Denturism. With this information we hope to develop a grass roots campaign to change recently passed Georgia legislation defining unfair laws that criminalize the denturist's activity of providing you with dentures, thus denying the citizens of Georgia the right to chose who provides their denture services."
Within the pages of this website you will learn more about us and how we have
historically conducted the task of providing the public citizen in Georgia, with quality, safe and affordable denture services. You will also learn more of our current political and operational crisis, and how that affects you and your pocketbook in obtaining denture services.
Defining ourselves: we are known singularly as a "Denturist," and our profession is
"Denturism." Our skill set and work operations are entirely different from that of a Dentist, and the profession of Dentistry.
A little history follows of us, with a synopsis of the legalization situation which
recently has become every Georgia citizen's problem...
Denturist as a group have been enormously successful in providing economical professional denture
services to the public in several U.S.States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for decades.
We of the "Denturist Association of Georgia," (DAG) are both proud of our service record to the
public in Georgia and our professional history. Patron service satisfaction, oral safety while in our care, and the correct denture fit, have always been hallmarks of our service offerings to the public at large.
As Denturist, we have been successful in providing an important health service need for Georgia
citizens.
Very unfortunately, and resulting from being successful, we have attracted some unwanted
attention.
Our long record of success as an industry group has been interpreted as a competitive threat by
dentists and dental interests in Georgia who are worried about loosing "market share" to denturists.
We never practice dentistry, although there are non-denturists, and unlicensed dentists who
may!
We only artfully manufacture and fit high quality dentures at substantially lower costs,
when compared to those obtained through a dentist. Of course we can do this because that is all we do, and we are very good at it! . Certainly with our service record, professional denturists do not warrant being "classed" as criminals under State House Bill 1622!
(Ask any denture wearer who has ever used the services of a professional Denturist.)
What has changed everything in Georgia is the recent passage of House Bill 1622 containing
content which criminalizes Denturist services to the public in Georgia. This has cast a great ugly shadow on our honorable Denturist industry, and is depriving our citizens of services.
We at the Denturist Association of Georgia, encourage the Dentists in Georgia to re-think their
position on this issue. Find out more about Denturist, and correct the wrong they have created in our industry for the sake of professional fairness and the common public good.
Denturist have long been wrongfully discredited by a few dentists and some dentistry organizations
within the state of Georgia and elsewhere. Very recently, a dentist in Savannah, Georgia was successful in introducing legislation in Georgia to bar denturists from legal operation in the state as an industry group. HB 1622 was crafted by dentists to eliminate the perceived competition we pose to Dentists who wrongfully think we are practicing dentistry. Obviously, there is no way the public will be ultimately deprived of such important, much needed, vital, and valuable denturist services in Georgia! The DAG is pro-active in making the public aware of this damaging legislation, and the significant cost level impact it creates for the public denture consumer if it is permitted to stand. |
